Welcome to the ULTRASAT website

ULTRASAT - The ULtraviolet TRansient Astronomy SATellite results from an Israeli/US collaboration to design and launch a low-cost UV time domain observatory with an unprecedented combination of sensitivity, extremely wide field-of-view, and continuous sky coverage. ULTRASAT will open a new observational window to study transient and variable phenomena on a range of timescales, from minutes to years. The data collected by ULTRASAT has the potential to revolutionize our knowledge about the transient UV sky. There are some discoveries that we can predict, for example in three major areas: progenitor-supernova mapping, tidal disruption events and gamma-ray burst afterglows. It is possible the most exciting discoveries are ones we do not expect.
