Dear Antonio,
Following the Gospel (Matthew, chapter 18), you should collect a
group of parishioners who want to press for Communion under both
species. Prepare a petition to this effect and collect as many
signatures as you can from these parishioners (not from people
outside the parish). Collect the documents also of the teaching
Church which recommend this practice. Then visit your pastor --
a group of you, six or so -- and present your petition to him.
In the Byzantine rite parishes, Communion is given with a
long handled, golden spoon. Communicants open their mouths wide,
the spoon is inserted and turned over, then withdrawn. No
contact is made with the mouth. To me, this seems to solve the
hygiene problem.
Sincerely in Christ,
Father Mateo
