³
³ I do hope that I will be able to continue to participate in this
³ conference, as well as the others which are carried on Vocations
³ Central BBS, as well as continue to provide a FREE access BBS for
³ the many users here in northern New Jersey.
³
³ Due to a change in "management" at my house, the very existence of
³ the BBS is now in question. My new Superior is not as convinced as
³ my former Superior was of the potential of this medium for the
³ advancement of the Kingdom and the spirit of ecumenism.
³
³ I would like to ask any of the conference participants who feel
³ inclined, to send a short message in support of continuing this
³ valuable ministry. It should be sent to me as Fr. Louis Caputo does
³ not have an account on the BBS as yet. I will collect the responses
³ and attempt to present a convincing case for the continued
³ existence of Vocations Central BBS.
³
³ Thanks in advance to anyone who replies, and be assurred that my
³ prayers are directed for you and yours.
³
³ your humble and devoted servant in Christ,
³

Dear Brother Bill,

Vatican II spurs us on to use all the riches of modern technology to
spread the riches of Christ's gospel.

"The Catholic Church believes ... that its task involves employing the
means of social communication to announce the good news of salvation and
to teach people how to use them properly. It is the Church's
birthright to USE AND OWN any of these media which are necessary OR
USEFUL for the formation of Christians and for pastoral activity"
(Vatican II, Decree, "Inter Mirifica" on the means of social
communication, chapter I. The emphases are mine).

I have not seen the current issue of CATHOLIC DIGEST, but I am told
there is an article there about Catholic computer conferences. Look
for it.

When Gutenberg invented the printing press, Protestants made full use
of it to spread their novel doctrines, and they did so with huge
success. Catholic apologists like Peter Canisius and Robert
Bellarmine fought back with printed books. Now we have in computers a
new and powerful means of spreading error --------- and YOU KNOW there
are people out there using that means. We are obliged to use the same
means to fight back.

                                Sincerely in Christ,

                                Father Mateo
