Hello and welcome to my home page.

I am a post-doctoral researcher working in the fields of adaptive optics and high contrast imaging. My particular interest is in advancing instrumentation and detection methods to enable the direct imaging and characterisation of extra-solar planets; the goal: to image a small terrestrial planet like our own Earth.

I am currently engaged in an STFC funded project to develop and test adaptive carbon-fibre composite mirrors, primarily with the next generation of extremely large telescopes in mind. The research is also pertinent for future space telescopes requiring large, lightweight mirror technology.

My previous research activities have been on a coronagraphic system for the William Herschel Telescope and ‘Smart X-ray Optics’ for improving imaging in future generation x-ray telescopes.
