Notes (from 5H):
This benefit for the Bridge School, a program for communicative and educational
development of severely physically challenged non-speaking children, also
featured Neil Young, Elton John, James Taylor, Shawn Colvin and Sammy Hagar.
PJ plays revised versions of 'Jeremy' and 'Black,' premiers 'Daughter' and
performs Steven Van Zandt's 'I Am A Patriot.' 'Angel' is particularly sweet
and has only been played live once before.
After Footsteps Eddie quips, "My parents told me I was conceived while
listening to Neil Young," so it's "come full circle." (Neil's wife started the
Bridge School and Neil sponsors this event every year to raise money for
it.)
Eddie about Alive: "We weren't gonna play this next song but we thought here it
might take on some new meaning." After Daughter, which is introduced as a new
song, Eddie says, "We had to make a deal with the drummer 'cause we couldn't
bring the whole [drum] set we'll let him play guitar on a song... Just
like in the living room... This is Dave and we wrote this together it's uhh...
about being able to get outside of your body." What follows is one of the very
few live performances of Angel, and it's a stunner. I Am A Patriot is performed
by Eddie solo on guitar.
