Notes (from 5H):
Ed jokes after 'Even Flow' about how this is the opening date of their
"farewell tour" in Salt Lake City and how it was good to see the support for
the opening band. He says that Stone wrote the next one and the original title
was "Falling in Love at 6,000 Feet." The improv before 'Green Disease' is very
short and starts out with, "Don't drive me, I'm an SUV ..." Ed talks about
someone who was in the armed forces during Vietnam and how Ed asked him how he
felt about the current world situation. He is interrupted and says, "Did
somebody say "shut up"? I don't know if you heard about this thing ... it's
called freedom of speech. It's worth thinking about cuz it's going away. So in
the last year of being able to use it, I'm sure as fuck going to use it." Then
he continues to relate about the woes of war and how his friend didn't feel
like we've evolved at all and how we need to come together in a good way,
leading to 'DTE.'
A bit of Sleater-Kinney's 'Dig Me Out' is worked into 'Porch.' The Bush mask
takes a familiar throttling during 'Bushleaguer.' Quite a lot of wine consumed
and that, combined with the "shy uke" and high altitude, lead to a rough 'Soon
Forget.' Ed asks if the crowd is allowed to drink and he says he feels better
when they reply affirmatively ;) The lovely 'Crazy Mary' gets the wine bottle
passed around and a stellar 'RITFW' closes the opener of PJ's North American
tour.
