Notes (from 5H):
A very up and down show, Ed obviously battling a cold, but cracking jokes
and the crowd at the front and sides on fire at the smallest venue of the
tour. After 'Light Years' Ed speaks for the first time and saying that the
venue is like "... playing someone's back yard ... the devil's back
yard." Wild Matt fills during 'NAIS' and Mike playing guitar behind his
head.
After 'EF,' Ed mentions that before the show, there were two huge car
company signs at the front of the stage which the venue didn't want to
remove. "We definitely didn't want be a two hour commercial for
Dodge...and they weren't going to take it down. Actually, we could be a
commercial for Dodge," and proceeds to sing a little bit: "Can't find a
better van ... or we could do one for Ford," and then rips away at his
guitar. Ed also says he was glad to play the Greek when it was still the
Greek, and wasn't the "Cisco Theater, or the Firestone Theater..."
Ed plays guitar on 'Black' briefly. He tries to motivate the crowd during
'DTE' during the "hallelujah" part ("C'mon guys!") and has trouble with
the lyrics, flipping around a few lines. There is a 10-second sound outage
during 'RVM' when the PA goes out. 'U' is introduced as, "We're about to
play a song that none of you know ... actually these guys would know it,"
pointing at some fans in the crowd. Before 'Soon Forget,' he says that
Neil Diamond has played in this venue a lot, but he's never played a
ukulele. 'Soon Forget' is perfect (no clapping tonight) :)
