Galaxy formation
and cosmology: challenges for the new millennium
Richard Ellis (IoA, Cambridge)
Considerable progress has been made in the past decade in constraining the
fundamental parameters which govern the form and expansion history of the
Universe (although there have been some surprises!) as well as in locating
and studying the evolving properties of galaxies at intermediate and high
redshift. I will take stock of this progress and review our physical
understanding of what has being observed in the context of various
upcoming facilities.
