Historical images of eclipses from the Royal Astronomical Society

The selection of historical images of eclipses regularly reproduced in
books and articles has been quite limited in the past. Determined
searching has revealed a wide selection of images in various media,
some of them of great beauty and a few highly amusing, from books and
MSS. This display presents an eclectic selection dating from
woodblock images of Solar and Lunar eclipse in a book by Johannes
Sacrobosco published in 1510, to eclipse expeditions in the present
century.
