INTEGRAL

Paul Barr (ESTEC)

INTEGRAL, the International Gamma Ray Astrophysics Laboratory, is an observatory class mission of the European Space Agency due for launch in 2001. INTEGRAL will perform gamma-ray observations of unprecedented sensitivity, spectral and spatial resolution between 30keV and 10MeV with simultaneous X-ray (3-30keV) and optical (V-band) monitoring. Approximately 3/4 of the total observing time will be available to the community at large, via observing proposal submission and subsequent peer group approval. In this talk I present the capabilities of INTEGRAL in the domain of high-energy astrophysical studies.
