The Royal Astronomical
Society's 1999 National Astronomy Meeting, NAM99,
is
being held in Guernsey
to coincide with the August 11 total solar eclipse.
Local arrangements are being organized by David Le Conte, in conjunction with the Guernsey Tourist Board, CLBS International Ltd., and the Astronomy Section of La Societe Guernesiaise. Details, including registration options, are still available. (Registration is now formally closed, but arrangements are still possible on a best efforts basis, depending primarily on availability of transport and accommodation.)
Families and other guests are particularly welcome, and everyone will be able to participate in the boat trip to view the eclipse from the RAS's reserved site on Alderney. Creche facilities (ages 1-5) will be available at the conference centre, and there is a Youth Service playscheme (ages 5-11) a short distance away; please contact David Le Conte no later than the end of July if you intend to make use of these facilities.
There are no longer slots available for oral presentations, but if you would like to present a poster then please Ian Howarth with a provisional title, as soon as possible.
Do I know about you? I am trying to maintain a
distribution
list of all registrants who have email addresses; please let me
know if you have email but are not listed.
